Our mission is to provide affordable transport to allow easy access to medical and social care appointments not currently served by public transport. Piloted in April 2023 by The Upper Cales Community Partnership (UDCP) Ltd, we have had great support not only from volunteers and patients, but also from North Yorkshire Council in the form of a grant that allows us to lease the Little White Car. Now entering our third year, we have been awarded a further grant from North Yorkshire Council's Net Zero fund, which is allowing us to purchase our own electric and wheel-chair accessible vehicle.
The Little White Car community health transport scheme is a volunteer-driven initiative designed to assist residents in the Upper Dales area. The service is open to any eligible resident who lives between Garsdale Station, Hawes and Askrigg, Aysgarth, West Burton and surrounding villages.
The scheme relies on a dedicated group of volunteers who offer their time to help transport community members to medical appointments and health-related activities. Where we have multiple appointments booked, we also rely on members of our Little White Bus team to help out.
Little White Car is designed specifically for individuals who may have difficulty using public transport due to health issues, age, or simply because there is no public transport in their area.
We serve the Upper Dales area, ensuring that transportation is tailored to the needs of the local population. We can take you to medical appointments in Richmond, Northallerton, Middlesborough, Darlington and potentially some hospitals in Cumbria also.
